Personal growth is always a positive sign that we're improving ourselves, whether it's our work ethic or self-esteem. I've learned in life that being a better person is a decision that I must agree to and dedicate to work towards. Further said, if you're stuck in your pride and refuse to admit to yourself that you're NOT perfect, you most likely won't be dedicated to progress as a person. Personal growth does not necessarily mean changing who you are, more so about achieving and finding your true identity. As many as of us would like to believe, we don't know who we are; just who society wants us to be.
Identity can only be discovered through experience. As you continue to be exposed to new cultures, people and ideas, you learn that the World is diversified and you being yourself is only right. The other day I was talking to a friend and he said, “My biggest problem is caring what people think about me. Once I figure out how not to care, I'll be good.” Like I told him, it's Society's problem too. When getting 100 photo likes on Facebook or Instagram is so important, you'll find many people worried about what others think of them.
On that note, personal growth is not about anyone else, but you. It doesn't matter who you are or what your story is, I know there is something that you can improve on about yourself. No, the goal is not to be perfect, but to be the best person that you possibly can be. When you strive to be perfect, you can never be great. Greatness is what you make it to be. Greatness is defined by high excellence in what you do and the level of consistency in which you use to maintain such high excellence. When you're a person of greatness, you understand that mistakes benefit you more than being pristine.
Personal Growth surely takes time to develop, but like American Businessman Bo Bennett said, “Those who improve with age embrace the power of personal growth and personal achievement and begin to replace youth with wisdom, innocence with understanding, and a lack of purpose with self-actualization.” As
a person who has undergo great amounts of growth, you have a better understanding of yourself, the world and life at large. In addition, you become wiser and more appreciative of components and people in your life.
As I close, let down your pride and master YOU. Don't get me wrong recognizing your self-worth is important, but you also have to understand that self-worth is not the one-way street to success. I've seen people have it all and lose it quickly because their inability to stay authentic, even beyond their increased wealth and fame. Grow to be stronger and wiser so when adversity and change strike, you'll still be standing as YOU.
