When we think of men attending formal events we automatically think of people dressed up in a suits wearing bowties. Bowties have been the traditional choice for tuxedos and dinner jackets. IF you have never worn a bow tie before you may
be surprised to learn that there are hundreds of types and styles of bowties to choose from. Keep reading if you would like to learn more about how to choose the correct bowtie.
• Bowties come in a variety of materials and choosing the right one is very important. Just as there are differences in the materials used to make the bow ties there are also differences in the price of different materials. If looking to buy an expensive tie you can expect to buy one made of silk and you may also choose velvet. You may not want to spend a great deal of money on your bowties and therefore may choose to get something made from polyester. When choosing a tie made from
polyester you are really getting more bang for your buck as they are more durable and easier to clean. Then again, a polyester tie is not as nice or as comfortable as a silk bowtie but you need to decide if you want to spend a great deal of money for an expensive tie that may not last as long or buy a cheaper bowtie that does not look as nice.
• The most obvious color for a bowtie is black but in recent years men have been moving away from traditional and are getting bolder in their color choices. Without a doubt you cannot go wrong by pairing a black silk bowtie with an elegant black
suit or tuxedo. If you are attending less formal occasions then you might choose to wear a red, pink, or even green bow tie. All of these colors would look great with a crisp white shirt. If you are more adventurous you could try something with a picture or a pattern.
Type of Bowtie
• There are two basic types of bowties, those that you tie yourself and those that are already tied for you. If you have never tied a bowtie before you might want to opt for those that have been pre-tied. These ties are adjustable in length and
they wrap around your neck and they snap in place and are very comfortable. Those people who are more experienced with wearing bowties often choose the bowtie that they must tie themselves. The process of tying a bow in your tie is not as difficult as it seems, it just takes practice. There are places online that can teach you how to tie your own bow tie using a step by step process. Bowties that have been pre-tied do not always look as good as those that you tie yourself. This is because they look like they have been pre-tied, they look too perfect. Whereas you can always tell when a bow tie has been tied by hand
and when it has not.
